Sunday night we watched Kung Fu Panda with the kids and ate "Kung Fu Chicken" and noodles. I love having theme nights, they are so much fun! After the movie we went for a walk and enjoyed the nice weather. The boys did their kung fu moves the whole time, it was cracking us up. Here's our Chinese Chicken recipe that we ate, super yummy!
Chinese Chicken
1 Whole chicken
1/2 c. soy sauce
1/3 c. brown sugar
1/2 c. water
1 T ketchup
1 T real maple syrup
1 garlic clove, chopped
1 green onion, sliced
2 T cornstarch
1 T water
2 tsp. toasted sesame seeds
Place chicken in crockpot. Mix soy sauce, brown sugar, 1/2 c. water, ketchup, maple syrup, garlic, and green onion in a bowl. Pour over chicken. Cook in crockpot on high for approximately 5-6 hours. Remove chicken to platter. Sprinkle with sesame seeds. Heat sauce in pan and bring to boil. Mix cornstarch and water. Pour into sauce and stir until thickened. Serve on side with chicken and rice.
